I'm working on Babylonian myth again; this weekend's challenge was to create a rendering of Tiamat that was reasonably close to her description, or what we can make out of it, in the Enuma Elish. I did an early render of her lover, Absu, some time ago; I'm happy to say I'm moving much more quickly this time, this was only a couple of days of work.
The whole idea was to step away from Realtorgeist for a bit and let my brain settle, which it has. Now I think I maybe need a break from this! I'll be back on Realtorgeist, following a new vision of an algorithm for house generation, for about five days, then I'll come back to this, fix all the shape keys, UV mapping, armature mapping (including adding anything at all for the tail), and touching up the clothing and jewelry, then post it again.
Yes, she has supernumerary breasts—Tiamat was, in fact, described as having an "udder". I couldn't get that to work any way that I liked, so I Total Recalled this @%*# instead. I actually do like the result, though it requires a little more sculpting and minor corrections. She's meant to be a sort of Elder God mother figure. It's strange anatomy, but I think that was the idea with her depiction. (I have social antibodies against unnecessary self-censorship and squeamishness around the human form, as it stands; and Tiamat is decidedly very far from human anyway.) You should be "scaroused" at best, though—she's about seventeen feet tall, aquatic, and I promise you she's full of nothing but salt water and hatred.
